The Greater Brandon Kiwanis Club is a very diversified group of professionals ranging in age from "20 something" to over 80 years strong, and each of us equally dedicated to "Serving the Children of the World".  This is the International motto for Kiwanis.  On May 8, 2010, the Greater Brandon Kiwanis Club will celebrate 50 years of service to our community with a dinner celebration at the Embassy Suites hotel.  We will have many past presidents in attendance and will be addressed by the Florida Kiwanis Governor.  If you would like to join us, please call Jim or Jo Powell at 685-7411. We welcome guests and potential new members every Thursday morning 8 a.m.- 9 a.m. at Ben's on Hwy 60, across from Nativity Church. Join us at a meeting or come out to one of the areas best annual golfing events. 
 
Our local platform is "Terrific Kids" ." TERRIFIC KIDS" is the elementary level of Kiwanis branded leadership development programs presented and funded by Kiwanis clubs all across the globe.  I'm sure you've seen the bumper stickers for the last 19 years we have been awarding "Terrific Kids" in Brandon. The Greater Brandon Club presents this award every month  to over 800 children, in 24 area schools, one from every classroom.  We are in great need of the community's help in funding  and presenting this program. We have a waiting list of schools wanting to participate in our leadership programs but are short of members who can attend and present, and we are feeling the budget crunch as well. We raised over $10,000 with last years main fund raiser, our annual golf tournament , and need to do considerably better this year. 
 
We are proud to have Mosaic as our title sponsor  for the 2nd year. As it reads on their web site and is known my many,  Mosaic plays an active roll in supporting education in our community. Believing that in maximizing their support for educational needs, they can meaningfully impact the public at large and invest in the future by training today's students to become tomorrows employees, advocates, and customers. They bring a nice team of players out each year.  Christine Smith, APR at Mosaic, is an awesome friend for Kiwanis.
